Jessie's Hope recognizes the cultural and linguistic diversity of BC's population and the fact that eating and weight disturbance issues cross all cultures to some extent.  Jessie's Hope acknowledges the importance of reaching all cultures, within the Province of British Columbia, with our prevention message.  To do this effectively, we want to ensure that our method of service delivery, information provision, content and context of the delivery and information are culturally appropriate and community relevant.  There are two phases to this work.

Phase I - Completed - The Provincial Language Service was awarded the contract to gather information about eating and weight disturbance issues from language specific community groups, in particular, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean and Punjabi, and provided an assessment of Jessie’s Hope previous training documents ensuring their relevance to these linguistically and ethnically diverse communities. A report was prepared and 9 recommendations were outlined in the report.

Phase II
- This phase will include the translation of our training materials and informational materials into Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean and Punjabi and have these materials disseminated  to their appropriate communities.

If you are from one of the four ethnic backgrounds, are interested in participating in our multicultural translation program and live in one of our participating communities, please contact our office
